I look for the root of each problem and build solutions that grow with the business.

I'm curious and observant. I studied systems engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira (UTP) and have spent more than 12 years building technology products. That's where I learned to look at a problem from several angles until I find its root, and not to stop at the fix: I turn the solution into a process that can repeat and scale. First I turn it into a step-by-step anyone on the team can follow. Then I hand the manual work over to technology. And I leave it ready to keep improving as the business grows.

AI changed the picture. Technology has been democratized, and today doctors, lawyers, accountants and business owners are starting to use AI in their work. But they still need someone with technical experience to guide them. That's the field opening up for me, through conversations with professions very different from mine.

Each one brings a different perspective, and crossing them, what I call cross-thinking, is already leading me to solutions I wouldn't have seen from engineering alone. I'm living it at the Karen Noreña orthodontic clinic, where I'm a strategic partner and support its move to automation. There we identified several fears that keep people from taking the first step toward treatment. We're working on several fronts to make dentistry feel closer to people, and I work on mine: digital. One example is the AI simulator , where anyone can see themselves with braces from home.

My name

My parents named me Darwin after Charles Darwin, the man who taught us that everything evolves. Over the years I noticed the name stays in people's memory, far more than John, my first name. That's why today it also names my lab: a place to adapt, experiment and evolve.
